Review of 2000 attendance

A list drawn up by Steve O’C was handed out and showed a good attendance throughout the year by Alan, Harry, Steve Ol and Steve L. An above average attendance for Steve O’C with 100% recorded for Richard. Disappointing percentage figures for Kim and Bob

Proposal was made for a merit scheme to be put in place, but further discussions are required to close out this item.

Non-attendance fines

With the exception of real, genuine excuses, sorry reasons, all members are expected to achieve above average attendance. This has been calculated using last years attendance percentages and a fair bench mark for members would be to make every effort to attend a minimum of 7.68 meetings throughout the year. Discussions on fines and or forfeits ended in a non agreed motion or commotion. No further action required.

Challenges for members

Richard made a proposal that a sporting league was made and activities such as golf, snooker, darts etc could be played throughout the year ending in an annual tournament winner. Proposal not agree : time constraints

Steve L made a new proposal of using the June 20th SIT date as a sporting day out to include any sports members wish to propose. Most agreement was made on sports including bowling, snooker, darts, etc these predominantly being held in venues where ale can be served.

2001 SIT Club AGM ( Private Gentlemen’s Club )

Member’s 40th Birthday Celebrations

Steve O’C and his good lady Kathy are both celebrating 40th birthdays this year and have booked Amberwood House for the weekend beginning 8th March for everyone’s pleasure.

Discussion followed on an itinerary for this weekend and concluded thus, Steve L will take charge of catering needs and after a recognisance by Alan, the Clay Pipe public house looks good for a venue during the stay. Drink merriment and other such activities were strongly recommended by all. Curry to be brought in and sleeping arrangements on first come first secured. A date has been set for 3rd March by Steve O’C who will hold a pre weekend suggestion party for this weekend at his house, all welcome.

Second Proposal from the floor was a Mid Summer Booze Cruise across to France. All appeared in agreement times and reasons to be agreed upon during an other meeting.

Thirdly a Jolly boys Beano was thought as a good idea to celebrate all our 40th birthdays. Although some are a little older than others, Kim, Bob and Steve L being grandfathers amongst us and Alan our juvenile delinquent. No date or venue set, but all where asked to think about what we would like to do. Outing to be arranged for October.

WebSite development

A thanks was given to Steve O’C for setting up and running our very own web site. Richard suggested a few ideas that he has seen on other sites ( Asian upskirts and alike )and will share his views with Steve O’C to bring the website on a little. Alan made a good comment that the website should be used a lot more and is an excellent tool for all members to communicate. All members are strongly encouraged to input items into the site when possible. Active members are happy members.

A request by several members on some X rated material finding its way onto the email system was aired and one of our members took heed, and quietly took a back seat for a while whilst brushing down his captains uniform.

Day at the Races

Last year this was suggested and was never actioned. Kim will endeavour to ensure a good day or night is available to everyone this year with a recommendation for Goodwood. Dates to be arranged and posted on the website.

Horse / Dog ownership

Proposed by Richard, whom to back his suggestion up said that it need not be a whole horse just a leg would be fine. After many minutes of not seriously taking Richard’s proposal on board, this item was moved to any other business where Steve Ol would like to raise it as a share club.

Children’s day out

After the success of last years outing with our children, although Henry was tired after running after the boys with their bikes, No one told dad to bring his bike. It was agreed that Moors Valley should be the venue for another family day out. Steve L will be good enough to arrange this outing, please keep an eye on the website for more information.

Alan also suggested that during the colder months of this year, i.e. winter, that perhaps a tobogganing day would be fun. Perhaps a best snowman competition or the best frost bitten toe competition.

2001 SIT Club AGM ( Private Gentlemen’s Club )

Any Other Business

Alan propose a Fund for SIT activities like horse racing, trip to Dublin with the ladies, kids day out etc should be arranged. All agreed and Bob and Lorraine will look into the best way forward, an account with a building society was suggested. Richard proposed a society not yet floated would be ideal. A sum of £20 sterling was agreed upon and to be forward by direct debit to the SIT account once opened.

Any release of monies from this account will be paid equally to all members regardless if they are attending an arranged event.

Lottery for 2001 will be maintained as last year by Alan whom will require £13 from all members next meeting. Alan also proposed that any winnings went into the fund account, all agreed. ( see revised cost for 2 lines below )

Steve Ol Proposed a Share Club, all where enthused by this proposal but decide to wait and see how the newly opened SIT funds performs and if monies available next year, then a review of a Share Club will take place.

Harry: Proposed that as we did not have a Christmas dinner and dance as the year before, he will ensure that a dinner and dance is available to every one for the forth coming Christmas period.

Harry to organise a Summer barbecue as last years did not happen and the previous years was a great success. Eyes on the web site for more information.

Harry mentioned that members should not feel they need to miss a sit meeting merely because they have a cash flow problem. All agreed and that’s what mates are for. Next meeting Harry to buy all beverages, as we all are a little short in February.

Kim wanted a confirmation that only founder members of the Sit Gentlemen’s Club could be part of the lottery and SIT fund etc. Any new member would have to be voted in and one black ball would disqualify that person from sharing the full membership benefits enjoyed by those attending this AGM. Kim mentioned that he only had one black ball !!

Kim proposed that an anniversary date be agreed upon and then celebrated on certain years, i.e. every 3 years or 5 years or even annually.

Bob Proposed that along with Kim, an annual dinner and dance should be attended by all members. Alan added that any anniversary evening should start at the George on top of the hill and every effort to be barred once more should take place.

Kim enquired whether we should play the lottery extra and after a discussion Alan suggested that we go to 2 lines. All were in agreement. The new numbers were randomly chosen by asking the barmaid her bra size, age and so on. : 6, 8, 19, 23, 33, & 40. Steve O’C said why don’t we use the original numbers twice. No comment was made upon this statement. Alan to revise monies required for 2 lines per week.

Alan voiced a thank you to Kim for starting the SIT club and we all toasted Kim on his great suggestion 6 years ago.

Kim then proceeded without warning to recall what the reasoning behind having a monthly SIT meeting i.e. Stay In Touch. Well all laughed at first to his honest and caring remarks and then suddenly came tears from all members as love and male bonding proved to much, then laughter then sadness and to finish a good old slap on our backs. What lads we are.

Minutes written by Richard from a drunken scribble formerly recognised as this year’s AGM minutes.

Let us all prosper this year and continue to enjoy the love of our friends and family.
